Can you stop a runaway Diesel?
In order to stop a runaway diesel engine, you must either cut off the air supply or the fuel supply. Since it’s drawing fuel from some unknown source, the easier option is to cut off the air supply. Finding something to block off the intake can slow down the RPM and stop the engine from running.
Is it bad to rev a cold diesel?
Yes, this may be bad. The oil is not yet at the operating temperature, and the same is true for engine parts as well. I wouldn’t redline a cold engine with cold oil. That way, the engine and oil have had a chance to heat up to operating temperature.
